Thirteen students from Honiton Community College competed in the East Devon Sportshall athletics finals last Wednesday (22nd) at the Kings School, Ottery. Y7 and 8 students made up our squad as they battled against the seven other schools from across the district. The girls and boys competed in the two and four lap sprints, the speed bounce, the standing long jump, the chest push, and the 1 lap hurdle relay. The HCC students teamwork was evident throughout and this shone through in the boys and girls two lap sprint relays, where both teams defeated Colyton and Kings to win their heats.
Good performances across the board from the Honiton students led them to a sixth place overall finish. Congratulations should go to our team, made up of Jodie Abbot, Olivia Baber, Charlotte Holdsworth, Emily Lee, Rebecca Donne-Davies, Jerica Bolanos, Oscar Walsh, Oliver Talbot, Sam Heathcoat, Joss Copeman, Ashley Mitchell, Cody Tratt-Skinner and Kaylee Freeman. This winter athletics will stand them in good stead for the upcoming athletics season beginning in April.
E-Copies are available in their original size on request by email to the students HOL/SWC.

The day went well from start to finish. Mr Skelding drove the college mini bus. Eveyone inculding Mr Skelding and Mrs Fawcett had smiles on their faces the majority of the day. The girls said the bricklaying was the most challenging yet most enjoyable. We finished the afternoon by treating the girls with ice cream for there superb behaviour not just all day but all year.
