EDEXCEL BTEC Foundation Learning
Foundation Learning is a flexible framework of qualifications at Entry level to Level 1, with some Level 2 work. The aim is to raise participation, attainment and progression. This is not an overarching qualification but rather students have a personalised mix of small flexible qualifications.
The course consists of BTEC Workskills which is designed to equip students with the skills to make an effective transition between education and the world of work. The students work on Units which gains them credits, ending in an Award or Certificate. The course also leads on to Level 3 work at Diploma level.
Functional English and Maths is offered from Entry Level 1 - Level 2. Students choose their element of vocational courses from a selection, which consists this year of Travel & Tourism, Construction, Hospitality, Jamie's Home Cooking Skills and more.
Depending on demand we also can offer Art and Design, Caring for Children, Land-based Studies, Retail, and Sport and Active Leisure.
Students complete ASDAN Personal Development programmes starting at Bronze Award leading to Gold Award. Students also spend one day a week on work experience, which can be supported by Learning Support Department as necessary.
