About Us

Keep up to date with the goings-on at Honiton Community College.

Over 250 primary students from our local primaries have been coached through multiskills activities over the past two weeks by our Y9 GCSE PE students. Y1/2 students from the primaries at Littletown, Upottery, Farway, Offwell and Awliscombe visisted HCC last Friday (9th May) to be lead through a series of throwing, jumping, running, striking and balancing activities. The previous Friday(2nd May), our leaders from the college visited Honiton Primary to deliver a similar event for their KS1 students.

Lovely weather always puts a smile on people’s faces, and there were a lot of smiles even at 8o’clock Sunday morning.

Miss Wyatt drove the minibus to Brickfields, Plymouth for the Devon Schools Combined Events Championships.

Seven athletes represented the College in this Pentathlon competition –  Hurdles, Shot, high Jump, Long Jump and 800m.

Throughout the day they all supported and encouraged each other as well as the athletes they met from schools all over Devon.

It is a challenging event especially when competing against Club athletes. They all held their own and apart from one who injured

herself, they all completed the five events.

Well done to you all you did yourselves proud and are excellent ambassadors to the college.

Year 7                    Rhys Phillips

Year 8                    Oscar Walsh, Jake Matthews, Oliver Talbot

Kaylee Freeman, Jodie Abbot, Jerica Bolanos

All the year 8 athletes will be reserves for the Devon Junior Teams to compete at the South West Championships to be held at Yeovil at the end of June.

Following their success at The Gryphon Leisure Centre, Sherborne on the 16th March, six gymnasts travelled up the motorway to compete at this very prestigious event.

The gymnast are from England, Scotland, wales and Northern Ireland, the standard is very high as many of the competitors belong to a gym club.

The South West as a region was very successful throughout the day and Honiton Community College gymnasts played a very big part in that success.

Ashley was called up as a replacement in the U19 Boys Tumbling. Despite very little time to practice, Ashley gave an excellent performance to win the first medal of the day achieving third place.

Over 14 Girls Pair Lauren Davey and Megan Jones missed out on a medal by 0.5 =leaving them in 4th place. Morgan Bolton Williams and Mylissa Jones who are not members of the Honiton Gym Club, choreographed their own routine and finished in 9th place.

In the Over 14 Boys Pairs, Adam Fullick and Ashley Wallis retained their title of 2013. Adam was soon back on the floor with Megan Jones in the Over 14 Mixed Pairs, again a stunning performance to win the second Gold medal of the day.

The weekend was not just successful in terms of medals and trophies, it was most enjoyable with teachers, coaches, parents and gymnasts all enjoying the competition, each other’s company and having fun.

Well done to the gymnasts they did themselves and the College proud.

Both teams have now finished. Congratulations to all involved!
