ICT provision at Honiton Community College is extremly comprehensive. The backbone of our ICT facilities is our college network which connects over 350 computers to our information hub. These connected PCs provide students with access to the internet and the latest educational software.
ICT Suites
The college has seven large ICT suites and a number of smaller ones, all running Windows XP Professional, we also have 10 iMacs running Snow Leopard. Educational Management software is used to provide security features to ensure pupils are on task and a safe learning environment is created. Each suite has a high lumin data projector to allow pupils to clearly see their teachers demonstrations. Three of the suites have interactive white boards.
Software
A whole range of software titles are available to students of Honiton Community College. The teacher can choose from over 60 titles to best support students learning. Of course the core office applications (Microsoft Office) are covered in ICT lessons and used regularly in many subjects.
Data Projectors and interactive white boards
These are becoming an invaluable tool to teaching and because of that the college has invested heavily to ensure our pupils have the benefits of them as often as possible. Every Teaching room now has a data projector and speakers which are permanently fixed and portable projectors can be booked for use by teachers or departments.
There are now a lot of educational materials being produced for interactive white boards and as a college we have invested in this area and now have eighteen interactive white boards installed and working in classrooms.
